Dal 15 al 18 marzo 2017 si è svolto a Gallipoli il III Concorso Caroli Hotels riservato agli allievi degli Istituti Professionali – Servizi per l’Enogastronomia e l’Ospitalità Alberghiera d’Italia, dedicato ai fondatori della catena Caroli Hotels, Attilio Caroli e Gilda Nuzzolese, Mario Caputo e Maria Domenica Caroli. Il concorso ha ricevuto il patrocinio della Provincia di Lecce, dell’ UPI Puglia, della Camera di Commercio di Lecce, della Città di Gallipoli, del Comune di Castrignano del Capo, dell’ AEHT – European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools, di Eurotoques Associazione Europea di Cuochi, dell’AMIRA Associazione Maitre Italiani Ristoranti e Alberghi e dell’UIPA Unione Italiana Portieri d’Albergo Le Chiavi d’oro.
Si sono affrontati nella competizione gli allievi del quarto e quinto anno degli indirizzi di Enogastronomia, Servizi di Sala e Vendita ed Accoglienza Turistica di ben 27 istituti IPSEOA provenienti da tutta Italia, 10 in più della passata edizione, segnale importante di crescita e gradimento della manifestazione che rappresenta un’opportunità e una vetrina per molti giovani e un momento di promozione del territorio (IPSEOA “S. Pertini” Brindisi, IISS Otranto, IIIS “N. Moccia” Nardò, IPSSAR “Massimo Alberini” Villorba Treviso, IPSSAR San Pellegrino Terme Bergamo, IISS “Einaudi” Foggia, IPSEOA Santa Cesarea Terme, IPSSAR “A. Perotti” Bari, IIS “Albert Einstein Antonio Nebbia” Loreto, IISS “Mauro Perrone” Castellaneta, IIS “Einaudi” Cremona, IISS“ Mediterraneo” Pulsano, IIS “Bottazzi” Casarano, IPSSAR “E. Mattei” Vieste, IISS “L.G.M. Columella” Lecce, IPSEOA “F. Buscemi “ San Benedetto del Tronto, IPSEOA “Tor Carbone” di Roma, Ist. Professionale “Beccari” di Torino, IIS “Vergani” di Ferrara”, IPSSAR “Giuseppe Maffioli” di Treviso, IPALB. TUR Villa San Giovanni, IIS “A. Panzini” di Senigallia, “Andrea Mantegna” di Brescia, IPSSAR “G. Marchitelli” di Chieti, IPSEOA “Tonino Guerra” di Cervia, Istituto di Crispiano e Istituto Alberghiero di Amatrice). Particolarmente gradita e significativa la partecipazione dei ragazzi dell’Alberghiero di Amatrice dopo le note e tristi vicissitudini.

Sezione Enogastronomia: team composto da Silvia Lazzari (“Beccari” di Torino), Antonio Scibilia (Istituto Alberg. Villa San Giovanni), Alessandro Bonetti (“Einaudi” di Cremona, Manuele Baldoni (“Einstein-Nebbia” di Loreto).
Sezione Sala e Vendita: team composto da Federica Musarò (“Bottazzi” di Ugento, Francesca Bonuso (“Moccia” di Nardò), Davide Travaglini (“Marchitelli” di Villa Santa Maria), Serena Cecilia Fedele (“Moro” di Santa Cesarea Terme).
Sezione Accoglienza Turistica: Mara Rossi (San Pellegrino Terme), Paola Casarano (“Moro” Santa Cesarea Terme), Vitalii Mikhailiuk (“Mattei” di Vieste), Lidia Zampaglione (Villa San Giovanni)
La manifestazione si è sviluppata in tre distinte articolazioni per ciascuna delle quali si è svolta una prova:
a) Enogastronomia;
b) Servizi di sala e vendita;
c) Accoglienza turistica.
– Nella gara di Enogastronomia, il team doveva realizzare un piatto sulla base degli ingredienti tipici pugliesi;
– nella gara di Servizi di Sala e Vendita, il team doveva realizzare un piatto a base di ingredienti tipici riportati nel “paniere”, anche utilizzando la tecnica flambè; si occuperà del servizio del piatto e del servizio del vino prescelto motivandone l’abbinamento;
– nella gara di Accoglienza turistica, il team doveva elaborare un itinerario turistico nel Salento anche attraverso l’utilizzo di lingue straniere.
Le squadre prime classificate per ciascuna categoria di concorso hanno ricevuto una borsa di studio unica per tutti i componenti la squadra, uno stage della durata di un mese con vitto e alloggio in una struttura dei Caroli Hotels, una divisa professionale per ciascuno dei componenti la squadra. A tutti gli alunni partecipanti sono stati consegnati un diploma e un voucher valido per il soggiorno di 1 persona per un weekend da trascorrere in un Albergo della catena Caroli Hotels..
In occasione dell’evento, il maitre Donato Palma della Caroli Hotels ha presentato in anteprima il nuovo gelato “Gusto Salento”.
